Heartbroken

3rd October, 2008

*sigh* hi everyone.  It’s a dark and sad day for me.  One of my beloved kitty cats died of a sudden heart attack yesterday  It was so sudden!  He came into the kitchen to say hello when I was making a sandwich for lunch… then fell over on his side.  I’m so full of sadness I don’t even know what to say…

my beloved cat

Mao was one of the sweetest kitties I have ever known.  I called him my studio partner ‘cos he spent his days mulling around and sleeping by my side while I worked.  During little breaks for lunches and stuff, I would sit on the couch and he would come over for a snuggle, however brief, just to let me know he’s there with me.

On evenings when I would be sewing my brooches, he would come over and wedge himself in a spot right next to me.  He also loved to spoon with me if I lie down on the couch.  He’s great for watching horror movies together.  He loved to curl up close.

I’m going to miss my little friend so much.  Today I have to get out of the house and run some make believe errands, just so I wouldn’t be reminded of his absence.

Mao was such a great cat. He was dignified in his retirement years doing the three things all cats love: eating, sleeping and being loved.

Mao loved sleeping beside Amy, while she worked.
At times I was even jealous of how close the two of them were, and I swear he knew it and would occasionally look over at me sitting all alone on the other couch with a twinkle in his eye!

I’m going to miss Mao’s friendship. It’s amazing how much love and enjoyment one wee pet can add to your life.

There’s only one mummaly Mao - and we’ll miss you very much.
