One Of A Kind Show Part 2

15th December, 08

Phew!  The One Of A Kind Show wrapped up a week ago Sunday with great success! I’ve spent the last few days resting, recouping and eating junk food in an attempt to bribe my cold into submission.  It worked! I’m feeling A LOT better thank you.

So it’s been just long enough since the show for me to write part 2 for the show report.  Now that I’ve gotten a little distance and perspective, I wanted to nominate and hand out some awards for excellence for this year’s show:

Top celebrity sighting

Canada’s Next Top Model winner Rebecca Hardy came by our booth this year!  She spotted herself on the cover of our Rouge Magazine Press clipping and came over to say hello.  She was super nice and even let us take a picture of her in front of our booth.

Cutiepie award

Here’s to the cutest person who came by our booth this show.  Doesn’t she look adorable in our little Petite Floret beanie hat?  Errr… hats off to you for winning this award!

Most delicious sandwich award

Twice a year I look forward to the One Of A Kind Show so I can get a chance to eat this delicious sandwich they serve at the show.  This amazing chicken salad sandwich has tied me through many a rough patch.  Served on a toasted bagel, this sandwich is unlike any other sandwich I’ve tried.  It’s the little things that make the most difference.

Best inanimate object award

And now the most prestigious award of the evening. This award goes out to the hardest working inanimate object this season, without which none of this could’ve been possible.  And the nominees are:

a) My little sewing needle - Who worked tirelessly this year to make ALL of my handsewn products.  It got a little bent out of shape from all the work but didn’t snap or break!

b) My new computer - Affectionately known as “The Boss”, this hardworking team member didn’t freeze or crash once this year, even with all the website updates and large photo files I had to work on.  Way to go trooper!

c) Cold FX - Even though Cold FX didn’t prevent my cold this year it did shorten the duration.  What a pal!

d) “Dexter” - My little Honda Fit “Dexter” didn’t’ complain once, even with all the crap we shoved into him during move-in and move-out, or when we had 9, yes 9 people all crammed into him like a carful of clowns (two people sat in the trunk!).  He selflessly took us all to our destinations no questions asked.

And the winner is:

MY LITTLE SEWING NEEDLE!  This little trooper is as reliable as ever.  Thanks pal I couldn’t have done it without you!

*acceptance speech*

I’d like to thank my good friend Nathalie-Rose who came and booth sat for us during the show.  Thanks Nat for allowing the boy and I the opportunity to go have a leisurely lunch together during the show madness.  Kristine (AKA PMS Cookie Lady) for coming to visit and drop off cookies at our booth, your cookies are as delicious as you are sweet!  My friend Paul who came by with moral support and Japanese candies, I couldn’t have made it without you!  I’d like to thank God obviously for his infinite wonder… and… and my mum and dad.  Hi mum and dad I love you!  Thanks for always believing in me!  Last but not least (wiping tears from my eyes), I’d like to thank my boy.  Thanks for not complaining once about how messy I made the house, and still loving me even when I’m too busy to wash my hair, and for taking time off your work and wearing a pink apron at the booth to help me at the show this year.  We did it baby! WE DID IT!

I’ve obviously had too much coffee this morning.

Aw shux! You’re welcome! It was an honour to be involved with such a wonderful cast and crew.

I’d like to thank all the little people - Amy, Kitty, even our car is a bit short.

I’d also like to thank the chocolate vendors in the food section for added energy and winter weight.

As well, big ups and mad respect to our friends at The Old York for allowing us to order pizza to the bar when their kitchen had closed.

I hope I haven’t missed anyone! I’m looking forward to the Spring One Of A Kind already!
