tick tock tick tock

20th February, 09

I can’t believe that we’re past mid February already. The last time I checked I was still counting down the new years clock with my friends. To say time flies would be an understatement!

From when the clock struck midnight I had exactly 3 weeks to get ready for the CGTA Gift Show. And now that it’s over I’ve been busy making and filling the orders placed at that show which means all of a sudden it’s near the end of February! The Spring One Of A Kind show is coming up again quick quick on April 1st. The spring show always sneaks up on me. I wish they’d have it a little later in the new year when it’s REALLY spring. Usually there’s still snow on the ground (or falling from the sky) when the spring show happens. With it being near the end of Feb already it means I have just six weeks till the OOAK and I’ve barely started preparing for it.

After the Spring One Of A Kind Show I’ve got less than a month and a half to prepare of the New York National Stationery Show (which happens mid May). Eek! I’ve got lofty ideas of new products I’d like to debut at the Stationery Show. Which of course is all put on hold right now whilst I’m still filling January Show orders and preparing for the April show. Seriously folks, WHERE DOES THE TIME GO?

I went to the gym yesterday (woohoo!). It has been a bazillion years! I stopped going to the gym last September when the Lou Lou magazine article came out and I got slammed with orders. And of course the round of Christmas Shows quickly followed and I haven’t been back since (for shame). It’s been so long since my last visit that I actually forgot the combination to my locker!

As I sat in the change room fumbling hopelessly with my lock (with half naked women coming over to offer their assistance. Awkward!), I realized that I’ve got to start making time to fit regular life things into my schedule. Like go to the gym, the dentist, to Cuba… because there will always be another show coming up, another order to fill, another new idea to process. If I wait around for extra time to do these things then it’s just never going to happen. So my new years resolution for 2009 (yeah I’m a little late with that too) is to make more time for non-Smitteny Kitteny things. Otherwise I’ll be 90 years old before I take a vacation, well at least by then I’ll get a senior discount.
