What if?
31st April. 09
So in midst of the crazy week I’ve been having, I was struck with the question “what if?”.
The question “What if?” is GREAT! It’s usually when new ideas are born. What if I could drill a hole in a pad of paper to keep my pencil there? What if I can make a greeting card out of wallpaper? What if I can add A to B to make Z? What if…
Actually let me rephrase that. “What if?” is great when you have the time to play with your idea. “What if” isn’t so good 3 days before a show, when you’re up to your elbows in brooches to finish, displays that need touch ups, barrettes that need… you get the idea.
On Saturday I was struck with the “What if” bug. I just couldn’t help myself! Like an itch I needed to scratch, I had to put down everything I needed to do to spend a few hours feeding this “what if” bug of mine. And here’s what I designed:
Once in a while when all the stars align in the heavens, and the Gods are smiling on you, and if you’re REALLY lucky, you design something you truly love. I adore these new Kanzashi Necklaces! It was love at first sight and I was smitten! After I made these I kept making excuses to walk by and stare at them on my work table. I was so freakin’ in love with them I had to find an excuse to wear it out that very night! I ended up going to see my friend’s awesome band The Pining play at The Cameron House. What can I say. I got lots of great compliments
The timing however couldn’t be worse. I can’t sell these necklaces at the One Of A Kind Show, because every new product needs to be submitted for approval 60 days before the show. Totes no regrets though, it was time well spent. So instead I will be wearing the necklaces myself, and redirecting customers to our website to purchase them. I think it’s going to be a hit!
Today I need to make up for the time spent on my “What if”. Off I go to the show to set up my booth double time! Plus finish off my pocket mirrors, plus make signage, plus tag my brooches… I feel a bit stressy but every so often, when I walk by my work table, I stop and stare lovingly at my new necklaces and feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
The One Of A Kind Spring Show starts tomorrow. We’re at booth # I-03 right at the front of the show this time. See you there!

What a great idea! The big red flower on the necklace I bought from you a couple years ago broke and I need something to replace it. Can you help me hook it on my necklace if I drop by and choose a brooch? After the show, of course!
