Custom Work

9th July, 09

Did I ever tell you guys that I do custom work?  I just finished off a custom order for a customer who had asked me to create 7 wedding brooches from her grandmother’s wedding gown, as gifts to their grand children.

In case you didn’t know, these unique brooches are not made exclusively for weddings, rather they are made FROM weddings. Brooches are hand sewn using vintage wedding dresses as fabric, and truly brings to light the term “Something old, something new…”.

The gown was beautiful, very well kept and immaculate condition!  I was a little sad to cut into the fabric (as I always do when I’m reworking vintage pieces),  but I also get very excited at the idea that this vintage gown will be transformed into something new, and may one day become heirloom pieces that they pass on from generation to generation.
