My beautiful friend Lio Beardsley did a series of educational pamphlets for an animal welfare organization called Heart. Heart’s mantra is “Adopt; Don’t shop! Neuter; Don’t Kill!”. I’ve always been a believer in adopting animals rather than buying. There are so many wonderful cats and dogs in the world who needs a home, why would you need to go buy one? Aside from problematic genetic traits that some bred animals inherit from over breeding, is a “name brand dog” going to love you any more than a mutty pup? I don’t think so!
Heart’s website is in Chinese but thanks to Google Translator you can get a gist of what they are about. There’s lots of news and updates on animal friendly events in and around Hong Kong, plus there’s links to animal adoption classifieds. I just love Lio’s beautiful illustrations for this worthwhile cause.
