National Stationery Show 2010 wrap-up

26th May, 2010

Last year after the National Stationery Show I wrote about some of the dos and don’ts of exhibiting, and since I hate repeating myself, I though this year I should post about the sights and sounds of the show itself.

Unfortunately being one man of a two man team at the show means I didn’t get a chance to walk around very much.  But once I came home and did a bit of Googling, I found many talented bloggers who did walk the show and covered the event.

And I mean MANY… the internet is a big place!

To make it easier for some of you, I thought I’d do a round-up of the wrap-ups.  So while today’s post might not look very sexy, I’m hoping it will be handy and informative.

Here they are in no particular order:

Nole of Oh So Beautiful Paper has written a comprehensive 9 part series of the NSS.

Erin Vale from Vale Design has a 3 part series from the NSS, including an interesting article about brand vs. logo.

Paper Crave’s insightful coverage titled All about details parts 1 - 3 and Greeting Cards Galore.

Grace over at Design Sponge separated her coverage by theme: Animals, Homesteading (+food), Florals, Cheeky + nautical trends (with more to come).

She also did some ICFF coverage: Circles, Facets + organic shapes, Wood + metal, Fun textures + shapes, Inspired by nature (part 1) which is very interesting.

Carina of Crow and Canary also broke apart her coverage into themes:  First Impressions, Calendars, wild Pulp, Color, Gift Wrap, Pacific NW Designers and Illustration (with more to come).

Jan from Poppytalk couldn’t make it out to the show this year, but being the good girl that she is, did a comprehensive 7 part Paper Pops Stationery Guide (including Smitten Kitten yay!) leading up to the NSS.  Eva from Sycamore Street Press also guest blogged for Poppytalk in a 4 part series.

My Mum Shops did a 5 part series on the event, including coverage of the Best New Products. Our RIP Greeting Cards were featured (Thanks Joanna!).

Event planner Amy Atlas and some of her fave finds at the NSS in 2 parts.

One of my favorite posts is from Erika from Delphine, guest blogging for The Sweetest Occasion.  Much like our post about the dos and don’ts of 2009 NSS, Erika did a National Stationery Show how-to which covers some of the behind the scenes tips and tricks, as well as etiquette one should know about when going to the Stationery Show.  A very informative post!

Lots of prints and patterns to peruse over at Print And Pattern.   Not only did Bowie cover the Stationery Show but she’s the only one I found who covered the Surtex Show.  Hmmm…  I would start looking from 4th May onwards.  So many artists are featured!

Bridgette over at Perideau Designs had some very interesting articles about exhibiting at the NSS.  Including interviews with exhibitors.  I love reading about other people’s perspective of the show.

Rachael at Pistachio Press wrote an interesting recap and included shots of her booth from start to finish.  So interesting to see all the work that goes into building a booth don’t you think?

Rajshel of Stationery Hustle did a lovely job of covering the show in a multipart series titled Wrap Up and Show Stoppers.

Mint Design Blog covered both the ICFF and the NSS.  Great ‘cos I never got a chance to check out the ICFf. I would start reading from about this date.

Phew!  I think I got most of it.  Did I miss anyone?

If you’ve gone to the NSS before, you know exactly how much work it is to walk the event, meet the people, gather all the information, organize it and distill it into a post.  A great big THANK YOU to all you lovely ladies out there who did the leg work for us (literally).  You guys did a bang up job!
